Hosted by Austin blogger and Social Media Award Winner Jennie Chen of MisoHungry - this Austin-tatious event is quickly becoming an annual favorite. It's a family-fun day - with a kiddie train, sweet and savory food vendors and attempts to break world records!
The brains behind this operation, Jennie Chen has organized the Cupcake Smackdown two years in a row now. What was a blowout bar party last summer (One 2 One Bar, specifically) was a full-fledged family event this year, at The Westin and Le Cordon Bleu.
Attendees included a wide range of participants ranging from children to a more seasoned attendee.
"Why not cupcakes?" Chen responded when asked about her choice. Chen, a local food blogger with "a penchant for cooking, puppies, & driving" spends the majority of her day in the labs. No, not concocting new cupcake recipes, as a research scientist.
Those in attendance have had a chance to watch the Cupcake Canon blast cupcakes from the cupcake cannon.
After all the cupcakes were frosted, participants held them up to to show that they had completed the task. The cupcake frosting was videotaped and photographed by many photographers and videographers.
After cameras documented the feat, the cupcakes were happily eaten by the crowd.
Serving as official witnesses and participants were Nik Ciccone (FOx 7 News) and Beth Coffey (Hay Compere - Attorneys at Law).
