The Guinness world record for the longest marathon playing ice hockey lasted 242 hr by Brent Saik and friends (Canada) at Saiker's Acres in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest field hockey marathon is 30 hours 15 minutes and was achieved by Omagh Hockey Club (N. Ireland), at Campsie Playing Fields astroturf pitch, Omagh, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Team White defeated Team Red by a final score of 1372-978 in the longest hockey game ever played at Burnaby Eight Rinks.

The only numbers that mattered were the 242 hours (10 days) of continuous hockey it took to break the current Guinness World Record, and the dollar amount raised for cystic fibrosis research in doing so.

Tthe Longest Hockey Game for Cystic Fibrosis had raised over $125,000.

While nearly 2,500 goals were scored, 290 of them from Courtney's Bree Healey, the players insisted it wasn't about the score.

"It's a miracle of the human spirit," said Val Skelly, a sales manager at Richport Ford Lincoln who spearheaded the event, called Long Game 4 CF. "Now we all know we can do anything we put our minds to. I'll never forget this moment, thank you."

The women had lived at the arena for ten days, alternating between four-hour shifts of continuous play (with 10-minute intermissions) and 4-hour breaks in a makeshift RV park behind the arena.
