  Longest Tennis Match - John Isner and Nicholas Mahut sets world record
  WIMBLEDON, UK -- American John Isner and French Nicolas Mahut made history at Wimbledon after playing a 186-game epic across three day on the lawns of Wimbledon - setting the new world record for the Longest (Professional) Tennis Match.

   The final set alone went for 8:11 hours. This was far longer than the previous one that had lasted for 6:33 hours. All previous world records have been pulverized. In total John served 112 aces while Nicolas fired 103.

    In addition, the Longest Tennis Match In the World set duration records for the :
    - Longest play in a single day: The first 118 games of the fifth set, played on 23rd of June 2010, lasted 7 hours and 6 minutes. This time is longer than the entire Nelson-Hepner match and any other match in tennis history;
    - Most games in a single day: 118, on the 23rd of June.

   John said: "I was tired. But when you come out and play a match like this in this atmosphere you don't feel tired — even though that's exactly what we both were. The crowd was fantastic.”

   Talking of his opponent Nicolas, John said: “What more can I say, the guy's a warrior. It's too bad someone had to lose. But I'm proud to share the day with Nicolas. It was an absolute honor. Maybe down the road we'll meet again — but it won't go 70-68."

    "Years from now, when I think about the 2010 Wimbledon tournament, the word that will always spring to mind is non-stop. I'll have a lasting bond with Nicolas now.
    We weren't great friends before the match, but obviously have so much respect for each other and one day I'm sure we'll sit down and laugh about it.
