The previous Guinness world record for the most snow angels made simultaneously in multiple locations was 15,851 snow angels made by 60 schools in the London District Catholic School Board in Ontario.

Guinness World Records also recognized a related world record: the most people making snow angels simultaneously- 8,962 at the State Capitol Grounds in Bismarck, North Dakota
. The snow angel challenge was part of Recreation Nova Scotia's 2010-2011 Take the Roof Off Winter campaign, a physical activity promotions effort designed to help Nova Scotians of all ages improve their health and quality of life by getting outdoors and being more active this winter.

"We literally blew the roof off winter," said Rhonda Lemire, executive director of Recreation Nova Scotia.

"This experience got people really excited about being outdoors, enjoying our beautiful snow and were all active at the same time. That's the real goal here."
