“It was a case of focusing, because you’ve got a lot of blood rushing to your head. It was a lot harder than I expected but you just have to get into the rhythm. I was having to get my breath back each time I went back up.”
Added Field, “I think that’s easily my quota of jumps for the year.”
Fields jumped from a crane 160 feet (49 meters) in the air above London, close to the UK capital's famous Tower Bridge.
Despite the time constraints, safety was a priority. After each leap, the crane that Mr Field was attached to lowered him to the ground, where he was caught by his assistants. The 10m (33ft) bungee rope was then changed before the crane took him back up to the platform. The previous Guinness World record for the most number of bungee jumps in one hour by an individual was19.
Mary Oladapo, who was monitoring the Sheffield man’s effort for Guinness World Records, said: "He was looking a bit queasy by the end and I don’t blame him."
