KANAWHA, IA, USA -- Mark Hanson, a 58-year-old insurance salesman from Kanawha, in north-central Iowa, picked up three balls and set up an official record attempt with 150 witnesses at the National Guard Armory in Mason City; he made the doubters count 417,
setting the new world record for the most catches in a minute with three balls,

The previous Guinness world record for the most juggling catches in one minute was 339 throws, set a number of years ago by a Czech man.
Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most chainsaw juggling catches: 88, achieved by Aaron Gregg (Canada) on the set of El Show Olímpico, in Mexico City, Mexico.
Hanson took up juggling in 1970 after watching it demonstrated on Flip Wilson's variety show. He did it for hours, but then adulthood cut into his juggling time.
"Through military service, jobs, marriage to Christa and raising five kids, today ages 8 to 17, he would pick up the balls and show off a bit," The Des Moines Register reports.
Hanson is already planning to break his old record with a new technique and wants to create a record for longest blindfolded juggling.
