sets world record
NARDO, Italy -- BMW tuning company AC
Schnitzer has build the Schnitzer ACS 3.5d coupe,
which recorded a top speed of 288.7kph (179.2mph) on the famous
Nardo Ring in Southern Italy - setting the new world record
for the Fastest
road-legal diesel car.
The Fastest
road-legal diesel car capable of reaching 0-62mph
in 5.7 seconds, and it also gets racing suspension, two racing
exhaust-pipes, front and rear spoilers and skirts, and 20"
alloys with the power upgrade. Sponsored by tyre manufacturer
Continental AG in conjunction with AUTO BILD sportscars, each
year, the best of the German tuners engage in a high-performance
shoot out to determine the world’s fastest cars.
The new world record for the Fastest
road-legal diesel car was set at the Nardo track in
southern Italy, breaking the previous Guinness world record
set in 2006, by 5.4mph.
The Fastest
road-legal diesel car title is the third for the company,
as AC
Schnitzer also holds the record for the fastest road-legal
BMW and the fastest gas-powered road-legal car, set in 2006
and 2007 respectively.
