The Guinness world record for the youngest licensed stockbroker was set by John Wang Clow who passed the Investment Banking Examination (Series 79) administered by The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and became a licensed stockbroker aged 17 years 77 days.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Oldest stock exchange, set by The Stock Exchange in Amsterdam, Netherlands, which was founded in 1602 with dealings in printed shares of the United East India Company of the Netherlands in the Oude Zijds Kapel.

Clow, who used to attends boarding school in New Hampshire, earned the license in August after working a summer job at his father's financial services firm, The Hina Group.

He unseated previous world record holder Jason A. Earle of Princeton, N.J., who earned his stockbroker license in 1993 at age 17 years, 206 days.

Clow said it took two full months of studying last summer to earn an 82 percent on the test, which, according to investopedia.com, comprises four areas: Collection, Analysis and Evaluation of Data; Underwriting/New Financing Transactions; Mergers and Acquisitions; and General Securities Regulations.

"If you don't understand economics and business, you can't understand how this capitalist economy works," he said.
"So I thought that through this, I'd have the opportunity to learn."
