KALAMAZOO, Mich., USA -- Workers from Confection
Bakery (owner Giti Henri) made a 300 lbs. cake
to look like a baby grand piano, using 200 lbs. of sugar,
17 lbs. of shortening, and ten pounds of icing and 183 hours
of labor , setting the world record for the Largest

Workers from Confection
Bakery spent part of the morning hauling the 300 lbs.
cake across the Kalamazoo Mall. Once in place in the upstairs
lobby of CityScape, the cake could be smelled from 30 feet
away.
The largest
baby grand piano cake in the world was transported
in pieces that weighed a total of about 300 pounds, including
wooden legs and base and sculpted Styrofoam to support the
cake. About 125 pounds was chocolate cake, and the main section
was moved on a piano dolly.
"They
have a baby grand piano that is in their lobby that is just
gorgeous, and we wanted to emulate that and tie in some of
the logo elements to their brochure and their website of the
cake design," says Giti Henri, owner of the Confection
Bakery.
"That's what we did, and that's how we ended
up with a cake that's four feet wide, by six feet long, and
five feet high."
The cake was the largest job ever for Confection
Bakery. “It allowed us to realize we had the ability
to do other, even larger, projects,” Jud Henrie said.
