Longest 5-a-side football game-Surrey County
Council sets world record
CAMBERLEY, UK--Two teams from Surrey
County Council ran around Collingwood College's indoor
pitch, in Camberley, for an exhausting 27 hours and 15 minutes
(final score of 536 - 362) to raise cash for charity-setting
the new world record for the Longest
5-a-side football game.
The players raised more than £1,000 for
the Esher hospice, a portion of which will also go to the
NSPCC. (enlarge

Aaron Guiver, 19, who works in the council’s
contact centre said: “It was a lot of fun although the players
resembled the living dead as the hours passed.
"It really was a case of willing minds
and failing bodies by the end but we made it and broke the
record.
Denise Saliagopoulos, Surrey
County Council cabinet member for community services
and the 2012 games, said: "There must have been some sore
legs and feet by the end but it was a terrific result.
"Both teams should be congratulated for
their fantastic efforts in raising money for two such good
causes. Well done to everyone involved." The previous Guinness world record holders,
16 members of a central London church, played for 26 hours. Related world records: Largest
