Most tamdem loops in one jump -
Pal Takats and Gabor Kezi sets world record
Lake of Walen, Switzerland -- Hungarians Pál Takats,
24, and his partner Gábor Kézi, 28, performed 45 consecutive
authentic loops with a paraglider on their daring descent
over the Walensee lake in Switzerland - setting
the new world record for the Most
tamdem loops in one jump.
Pal and Andi Gabo, 28, are the first tandem
pilots to manage so many loop the loops in one paraglide.
Pal added: "We didn't plan to do so many. We
were just in rhythm and carried on doing the loops." The pilots
landed safely on the ground dizzy, but otherwise unharmed.
The adventure started high in the
mountains in approx. 1800 m of altidude, where the fields
where green and the surrounding amazing.
After take off they were able to do 45
real loopings in a row, flighing straight of the parachute.
With that first premier, the test pilots from U-Turn showed,
what Aerodynamics never expected, real loopings with parachutes
are possible, not only with hard wings.
„Of course, the borders of physics are set, but
where excatly we still have to find out," says Ernst Strobl,
Chef-Developer of U-turn.
With a modified Acro-Parachute, Takats,
one of the world bests acro-pilots, already did various loopings,
called Infinity Tumblings. Now, also in the double - with
Gabor Kezi.
It was really tough. „Due to longer lines, the
way to pass for both pilots was even longer each looping."
Takats explanis. For us it was about 6 G. For the parachute
it was even more, up to 12 G, which is a real challange for
the material.
Deep blue lake, bright blue sky, deep blue
lake, bright blue sky – the top pilots speedily performed
the dizzying acrobatic manoeuvre.
To be more precise: 45 times deep blue
and 46 times bright blue, and as a consequence the ultimate
answer was given that also aerodynamics experts might be wrong.
On account of the reduction in the lift
coefficient and the pressure relief of the profile of a paraglider,
up to this date it was supposed that authentic loops are only
possible with rigid wings.
