Fastest time to ride 1000 km on a bicycle -
Pap Zoltan sets world record
Targu Secuiesc, CV, Romania -- Pap Zoltan,
40, amateur bicyclist of Targu Secuiesc, has successfully
traveled 1000 km on bicycle in 45 hours and 35 minutes – setting
the world record for the Fastest
time to ride 1000 km on a bicycle.
“I was accompanied by two cars during the entire
route – for help regarding food, beverages and technical assistance
in case any malfunctions appeared, although it was not the
case”, Pap Zoltan said.
Zoltan says the route was not easy, the
weather changing during the 1000 kilometers: sunny, windy
and rainy. He said he is very proud of his record, even if
he had moments when he wanted to abandon.
The world record tour began in Targu Secuiesc,
on the route Brasov – Sibiu – Sebes – Deva – Lugoj – Orsova
– Drobeta Turnu Severin – Craiova – Pitesti – Campulung Muscel,
then returning in Brasov and then Targu Secuiesc, through
Bucegi mountains.
The passion and ambition to prove it can
be done made Pap set a record and a better one than he had
initially intended (48 hours), succeeding to cover the entire
route in a time two hours and half shorter.
